What is the real reason for declining album sales? You can blame the economy, piracy on the internet, or a little of both. Regardless, Universal Music Group is looking to do something about it. Universal , or UMG for short, which houses some of the biggest imprints in the music industry, such as Interscope and Geffen, is dropping prices on all new albums. Prices in retail stores will range from $6 to $10 now, which will compare to what consumers would look to pay for the digital format of the album online.
